MY THOUGHTS ON THE LA SERA / HEAVY CREAM SHOW THAT WAS TONIGHT (03-06) @ THE TEA BAZAAR

tonight at the tea haus was a sick lineup of rock n' roll

i missed HOOKING UP because the show started way earlier than I anticipated // thats right it was a sunday

no worries though i'll be seeing hooking up play real soon at my house (MAGNOLIA) on the 20th of march :: event link --> here

so here's my thoughts on the show. (something we at witchmond should start doing more often)...

first band I caught was HEAVY CREAM

I saw them a while back at The Box in charlottesville where they pissed people off and continually called my friend a DEMON //weird but kinda awesome/expected behavior..and they're still dope. I like female fronted popppunk and they carved their style of bratty rock n roll rather nicely with a short loud fast set.

next was the ever anticipated LA SERA

my excitement was my downfall.. I saw Vivian Girls in 2009 at the outback lodge RIP in charlottesville + am quite enjoying her new album = loads of anticipation. Although i'm not gonna lie Katy Goodman is an irresistible force as a performer, the band couldn't quite hold up the vibe the idea of LA SERA has to me. which is some sort of beautiful effortless 60's pop revival. a little disappointing. BUT she did end with the same cover the vivian girls played last time she was in charlottesville. It definitely didn't suck, just didn't live up to my expectations.

after the show the more I thought about why I didn't like the la sera set the more I realized I would just rather hear noise music live than la sera live, I guess I just know what to expect// what has life come to??????///// anyway that's why I'm more than stoked for this fucking ridiculous mini noise fest going on at MAGNOLIA on tuesday the 8th of march ////////////////////////////
